In a biodiversity survey of freshwater fungi along the Northern Cross-Island Highway of Taiwan, several species of Exserticlava and Cordana were collected. The present poster illustrates three of them, namely, Exserticlava vasiformis, E. variabilis sp. nov., and Cordana oblonga sp. nov. Species identification was based on morphology and phylogeny. The phylogenetic relationships of represented species from the two genera were inferred by their nuc rDNA ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 (ITS barcode) which supports the placement of Exserticlava in the Chaetosphaeriaceae (Chaetosphaeriales) and Cordana in the Cordanaceae (Cordanales); both genera are distinct taxa in the lineages of freshwater Sordariomycetes. The present study contributed several new sequences of Exserticlava and Cordana to GenBank.
